Toronto's Gay, Lesbian and Diverse Masters Swimming Club Since 1987

The Downtown Swim Club is a Toronto Masters swim club registered with Masters Swimming Ontario and International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA). Through IGLA, Downtown Swim Club is associated with the Federation of Gay Games (FGG). Downtown Swim Club is also a member of GLISA, the sanctioning body for the Outgames.

The Downtown Swim Club welcomes all levels of swimmers who have in common not how fast they are, but how hard they work (or how much fun they have!) while swimming.

Effective September 7th, 2015 the DSC will be offering 4 practices a week

    • Tuesdays – Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre:   8:15pm to 9:15pm
    • Thursdays – Regent Park Aquatics Centre:   8:15pm to 9:15pm
    • Saturdays – University of Toronto Athletic Centre, 50 meter pool:   5:00pm – 6:30pm
    • Sundays - University of Toronto Athletic Centre, ½ 50 meter pool:   7:00pm – 8:00pm

Upcoming events

Club Objectives

  1. To provide a positive and welcoming environment in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight friendly (LGBT) communities for swimming activities.
  2. To provide a balanced and welcoming swimming program, appealing equally to men and women, recreational, fitness and competitive swimmers, and providing both exercise and social activities.
  3. To Enhance the swimming experience of its members and thereby expand participation in masters swimming and to perpetuate life-long adult fitness through swimming by:
    • Promoting swimming as a means of healthful exercise
    • Providing opportunities for fellowship and camaraderie
    • Encouraging training for fitness and competition
    • Building educational resources
    • Communicating effectively
    • To enhance public awareness and support of masters swimming
  4. To provide an environment fostering improved competitive skills for those interested in masters swim competition
  5. To provide outreach to other masters swimming organizations and to other LGBT organizations, leagues, teams and groups that are involved in a recreational or competitive sport
